“If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing.”

I have been fascinated with flight all my life. As a child I grew wings in my dreams. With those wings I escaped into a world of my own making where gravity was no issue and I could go wherever I liked. As an adult I learned to fly using manmade wings. I will never forget the first time I took off in a tiny wood and fabric plane. Again gravity was no issue and traveling in the clouds was very much like my childhood dreams. I think this is why I enjoy photographing birds and things that fly. I am no longer able to pilot an airplane but I can still fly. The process of recording wildlife with my camera and then using my imagination to construct a print or digital image is akin to flying for me. The intellectual and emotional flight of the creative process sustains me as an artist.

Another type of flight you will see in my images is my love of taking images of things found in their natural state and transforming them into flights of fancy. I hope you will enjoy the images you see here and perhaps be inspired to create some of your own.
